Who we are
Blipcal is made and sold by Josh Snoddy, a sole trader trading as Blipcal, in Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. He is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: support@blipcal.com.
What the app reads, and where it keeps it
Blipcal reads the events and reminders in the calendars and reminder lists you select, through the access you grant in macOS (Full Access to Calendars, and Reminders access if you turn reminders on). It shows them, and when you add, edit, complete or delete one it writes the change back to the same calendar. Your events, reminders, attendees and notes are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
Your settings are kept on your Mac. Exporting your settings writes a file you control; it never includes your license key.
If a calendar belongs to an iCloud, Google, Exchange or other account, macOS and that provider keep it in sync under their own privacy policies. There is no Blipcal server in that path.
What the activation service keeps
When you activate, deactivate or revalidate a license (about once a day while the app is online), the app contacts our activation service. To run licensing and support, that service stores:
- A hash of your license key, never the key itself.
- A hash of your Mac's salted hardware identifier, never the identifier itself, and your Mac's name (for example “Sam's MacBook Air”) so you can tell your Macs apart.
- The name and email address in your license.
- When each Mac was activated and last checked in, and a log of activations, deactivations and refused activations.
No calendar content is ever sent to or stored by the activation service. Being offline never removes a license.
Payments
Your payment is processed by Stripe under Stripe's privacy policy. Stripe collects your card details; we never see them. We receive and keep your name, email address, the amount and currency you paid and the checkout session id, so we can issue your license, show it on the page after checkout, resend it and refund you. Stripe's checkout page, on stripe.com, sets its own cookies.
Emails
Your license key is sent from licenses@blipcal.com. Replies and support come from support@blipcal.com. We send no newsletters and no marketing email.
The website
This site sets no cookies and uses no tracking. It counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies, does not fingerprint your device and does not follow you across other sites; it records only aggregate measurements such as page views and load times. The page you reach after buying carries no analytics at all. Cloudflare, which serves the site, keeps its own server logs.
Update checks
The app checks for updates through Sparkle by fetching a small feed file from our downloads host about once a day, and you can turn that off in Settings. Sparkle's system profile is off, so the check sends nothing about you beyond what any web request carries.
Who processes it for us
Stripe processes payments. Cloudflare hosts this website, the activation service and its database, the downloads, and sends the license email. Both act under their own data processing terms, and data may be processed outside the UK under the safeguards those terms provide.
How long we keep it
Activation records are kept while your license is in use; deactivating a Mac removes its activation. Purchase records are kept for as long as UK tax law requires. Ask us and we will delete anything we do not have to keep.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have your activation and license records deleted: email support@blipcal.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). Deleting the app removes everything it holds on your Mac. Refunds are covered by the refund policy.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
