Blipcal features

A complete menu bar calendar for Mac: month view, agenda, events you can add and edit in place, a next-meeting countdown, world clocks and reminders.

Blipcal is a menu bar calendar for macOS 14 and later. It shows today's date and your next event in the menu bar, opens a month grid and agenda with one click or ⌃⇧C, and lets you add, edit and delete events without opening Calendar.

Everything in one panel

One click on the date, or ⌃⇧C from any app, and the month, your agenda and your time zones are there.

Add and edit calendar events in place

Create with ⌘N or a double-click on a day: title, calendar, times, all-day, repeat, alert, location, URL and notes, or switch the form to a reminder. Click any existing event to change the same things, delete this or all future occurrences, and undo.

Honest note: attendee lists show in the detail popover, but macOS does not let a third-party app change them, so inviting people is still done in Calendar.

Natural-language event entry with a live preview

Type it the way you would say it. The chips under the field show what was understood before anything is saved.

Day, time, length, calendar, place and alert, read as you type. The dim chips are the defaults from Settings; “/Work” picks a calendar, and “alert 10m” sets the alert. Every word it knows.

Join the next meeting from the menu bar calendar

⌘J joins the first live meeting and closes the panel. Copy the link from the event's popover.

Outlook Safe Links are unwrapped, so a wrapped Teams link opens as Teams.

A second clock and a world-clock strip

Add up to eight zones. One can sit in the menu bar after your clock; all of them line up in a strip under the grid, and the slider moves every clock together.

Reminders in the agenda

See, tick off and add reminders beside your events, with an Overdue section at the top of today. Reminders access is asked for separately, and everything else works without it.

On macOS 14 and later. Itsycal's reminders exist only on its macOS 27 build (0.28.0, checked 6 November 2026).

Always current

Events refresh as soon as they change in any app, and a deleted event disappears at once.

Features FAQ

Does it need an account?
No. Blipcal reads the calendars your Mac already has, so there is nothing to sign in to and no server holding your events. The only connection it makes is the license check when you activate.
Can I use it without calendar access?
Yes. The month grid, today's date in the menu bar and the keyboard navigation work without any access. Showing, adding and editing events needs Full Access to Calendars, which macOS asks for the first time you open the app. How calendar access works.
Does it work with Exchange and Google?
Yes, through the accounts in System Settings under Internet Accounts, the same way Calendar does. Add Google, Exchange, Microsoft 365, iCloud or a CalDAV account there and its calendars appear in Settings under Calendars.
Can I hide the system clock?
Yes. Write your own date and time pattern in Settings under Menu bar, then hide the system clock in System Settings under Control Centre. Or keep the system clock and show just the date icon. The pattern reference.
Can I keep Blipcal and Itsycal both installed?
Yes. They read the same macOS calendars and do not interfere with each other. Many people run both for a week and keep the one they reach for. Blipcal vs Itsycal.
