Move your license to another Mac

Deactivate the menu bar calendar on one Mac and activate it on another, with two Macs per license.

The short version

  • A key covers up to two Macs at a time. Only the Mac that holds a seat can release it.
  • Deactivate on the Mac you are leaving, then activate on the new one with the same key.
  • Old Mac sold, wiped or dead? Email us the key's last five characters and we free the seat.
  1. 1

    Deactivate the old Mac

On the Mac you are leaving, open Settings > License, click Deactivate this Mac…, then Deactivate. It needs an internet connection. That releases its seat; this Mac goes back to its free trial, or to the free month grid if the trial has ended.

  2. 2

    Activate the new Mac

On the new Mac, install Blipcal, open Settings > License, paste the same key and click Activate. The activation guide.

  3. 3

    The rule

A key is active on two Macs at a time. Activating a Mac that already holds a seat gives it the same seat back, so reinstalling the app never uses a second one.

New Mac with Migration Assistant

The activation does not carry over, because the new Mac has a different hardware identifier. Deactivate on the old Mac first, or email us and we will release the seat.

The old Mac is sold, wiped or dead

You cannot deactivate it yourself. Email support@blipcal.com from the address you bought with, including the last five characters of your key, and we will release the seat.

Reinstalling macOS on the same Mac

The hardware identifier usually survives a clean install, so activating again returns the same seat. If it does not, email us.

Trying it on a third Mac

That is fine. The trial is per Mac, so a third Mac gets its own 14 days before it needs a seat.

Still stuck? Email support@blipcal.com and we will help.
